As the festive season swings into full gear, the Discover Arlington team had the delightful opportunity to immerse ourselves in the holiday spirit at The Lodge in National Landing. Held Friday December 1st to Sunday December 3rd 2023 at Metropolitan Park, this ski-themed holiday festival, organized by the National Landing BID, was a spectacular gathering that truly captured the essence of winter celebration.
The Festive Atmosphere
Upon arriving at The Lodge, we were greeted by a magical winter wonderland setting. The event’s ski lodge theme was evident in every corner, with beautifully decorated areas that were perfect for those Instagram-worthy moments we all cherish. The air was filled with a sense of joy and community spirit, making it an ideal place for friends and families to gather and make lasting memories.
Activities for All Ages
One of the highlights of The Lodge was its inclusivity, offering something special for visitors of every age.
Bunny Hill: This kid-friendly zone was a hit among the younger attendees. With activities like glitter tattoos, face painting, and crafts, the little ones had a blast. The presence of Santa added to the excitement, as children got to find out if they made it to the nice list this year!
Blue Run: Pet lovers found their haven at Blue Run. The dog bone bar was a unique touch, treating our four-legged friends to some holiday pampering. The pet caricature artists were a delightful addition, offering a memorable keepsake for pet owners.
Black Diamond: For the adults, Black Diamond provided a more exhilarating experience with activities like axe throwing and the Ugly Sweater Aprés Ski event. It was a fantastic way to engage in some friendly competition and share laughs with fellow community members.
Local Flavors and Finds
The Lodge was not just about activities; it was a celebration of local flavors and craftsmanship. The holiday market featured local vendors and artists, showcasing a range of unique and thoughtful products perfect for holiday gifting. The culinary aspect of the festival was equally impressive, with local restaurants serving up delicious seasonal bites and cozy drinks. The s’mores hut was a personal favorite, offering a quintessential winter treat that warmed both the body and soul.
A Community Coming Together
What made The Lodge at National Landing truly special was the sense of community it fostered. Amidst the festive activities and local offerings, it was heartwarming to see community members come together, sharing in the joy of the season. It was a reminder of the tight-knit community spirit that makes Arlington such a unique and wonderful place to live and visit.
