Southwest DC
Southwest DC is one of the four quadrants of Washington, D.C., located south of the National Mall and west of the Anacostia River. It was largely developed in the mid-20th century as part of an urban renewal program, resulting in modernist architecture and a mix of residential, commercial, and government buildings.
Notable landmarks in Southwest DC include the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, the Wharf waterfront development, and the Tidal Basin, which is home to the famous cherry blossom trees. Despite its central location, Southwest DC remains one of the least populous and most affordable areas of the city.
