In September, my husband and I closed on our first home in Falls Church and it truly could not have been a better experience. Joe worked with us not just as our realtor but as our friend. He was thoughtful in his recommendations and honest as we toured each home. Joe was so mindful of our requests and understood how important the location was to my husband in terms of commuting and to me and my small, local business. Throughout the home search Joe demonstrated a deep knowledge of the DMV area and he made sure that we were aware of any listings that fit our preferences. It was always a lot of fun to walk through homes with Joe, even when it ultimately wasn’t the right fit for us.
When we toured THE house, Joe had arrived at the address early and texted us “I think you guys are really going to like it.” Joe never pressured us one way or the other but he intently learned our preferences and he was exactly right. This brick home in Falls Church, near the metro, in the McLean school pyramid, with a yard, checked all of our important boxes. Joe got right to work and quickly put in our offer that afternoon. We were thrilled it was accepted.
During the home search process, Joe also gave excellent recommendations for financing. We were able to lock in a low interest rate with a local mortgage company who Joe was well connected with. Joe was always incredibly flexible in coordinating the home inspection, the appraisal, and closing. He and his team were with us every step of the way and even when it should have been overwhelming, we knew we could count on Joe to help answer our questions and quell any concerns.
Throughout this process, so many of our friends and families have shared how terrible their first time home-buying experience was. We are SO thankful that ours was truly the opposite. Working with Joe and the Davenport Group was the best decision we made. We cannot recommend Joe enough. His expertise and thoughtful approach to home-buying and selling in the DMV area is unmatched. While we will certainly enjoy living in our first home for the next several years, we know we will reach out to Joe when the time comes to sell and buy again.

My fiancé and I interviewed a few realtors in our early preparation stages but knew instantly that we wanted to work with Joe the day we met him/interviewed him – he stood out to us from the rest! From his professionalism, positivity, knowledge, communication/time management skills, and more:
From day 1, Joe arrived early to our scheduled initial meeting with a folder of useful information which he took the time to explain in depth: a list of reputable lenders, an article highlighting different strategies on how to make a competitive offer, information about his team, and the step-by-step process of purchasing a home. Joe also took the time to get to know us as individuals, the type of properties we are looking for, the locations we desire, and our budget. He was also very attentive to our timeline with house buying.
My fiancé and I can have very busy work schedules - We were always appreciative of how flexible and quick Joe was in scheduling after-work hour house tours. He even was very proactive in scheduling private tours on properties with less than a 24-hour request notice from us. Joe also made sure that another member of his team was ready to assist us with any house tours in rare situations in which he was unable to attend himself.
When it came to the actual house hunting process – we were impressed by how involved and attentive he was with the properties we toured. He was transparent and insightful with explaining to us the good versus bad of every home we saw, the type of maintenance each home would require, things that would need to be replaced sooner versus later (ex: roof, HVAC, water heater, etc). – It really helped us feel empowered to make informed decisions on whether we wanted to put an offer on a house or not.
When it came time to finding the house we wanted – Joe was very thorough with helping us write up an offer. Fun fact – Joe was on a plane when we toured a single family house that we wanted to try to purchase after our private tour. Despite being 30,000 feet in the sky, Joe was still able to write us an offer on the house and guide us through the whole process while being midflight! We felt very well supported to have our first offer on a house submitted the same night we toured it and to have that offer be accepted the next day. That type of success would have not been possible without the level of professionalism, proactiveness, knowledge, strong teamwork, and guidance that Joe and his team excel in.
Throughout the closing process of the home, Joe continued to be a great resource in sharing with us his recommended local contractors/vendors (ex: general contractors, landscapers, plumbers, etc) for our house needs and wants.
Buying a house in the DMV area is tough especially as first-time home buyers. My fiancé and I never felt pressured or stressed during the house searching + buying process because we truly felt that our best interests were prioritized and well represented by Joe and his team.
